Our Club
Our club
Fence Club 43 is based in the heart of Islington. It is aimed at fencers ages 7–12.
We’re delighted to offer trial sessions. Come join us!
Our home club in Islington has been proudly teaching children in the local community for over 3 years. Led by experienced fencers, we provide a personal and hands-on introduction to the sport using electric fencing equipment. Children build strong relationships with our coaches, who support their growth and development as they advance in skill and confidence.
Metal Foil Fencing
Our club specialises in metal foil (electronic) fencing.
All equipment needed for our sessions is provided onsite by Fence Club 43.
Exceptional Coaches
Both our coaches have represented the United Kingdom. Leading our Islington fencing club are Dominic De Almeida and Theo McGlone
Advanced Equipment
Our fencing club uses lightweight, state of the art electric fencing equipment and scoring systems.
Focused Teaching
We run small fencing lessons for
up to 12 students, allowing for a close-knit community where every student gets 1-to-1 attention from our coaches.

Hey! I’m Dom, Head Coach of Fence Club 43 in Islington.
I have been coaching since I was 18, where I got my first job as an assistant coach. I instantly loved the job as it reminded me why I fell in love with the sport. To be able to pass on the knowledge and skills I have learnt over the years to the next generation is extremely rewarding. For me, there is no better feeling than seeing a smile on a kid’s face when they can perform a move they have practised in training and applied in competition.
Dominic de Almeida
Head Coach
Of all the clubs that my son attends, this club has the warmest and most welcoming environment. With a supportive coach and wonderful club mates, Fence Club 43 has helped my son develop a newfound confidence.

I like fencing because I get to play with swords with my friends every week! Did you know that en garde means get ready? I love that!

Our Story
Fence Club 43 started out by offering fencing sessions for a small group of children in Islington, London.
We started out doing outdoor fencing sessions for a small group of local children in Islington, London. Theo’s neighbour generously allowed us to use their garden. Their house number was 43 — hence our name! As our club grew we also began offering fencing sessions in schools. Today, alongside our club, we partner with over 50 schools throughout the UK
